How to Make Macrame Snowflake Ornaments

In the fourth and final in my series of handmade, macrame ornaments, we have a lovely snowflake ornament! We are reusing the knots from the past few, Lark’s Head and the Square knot, so if you have been following along this one should be a breeze. Similar to real snowflakes, you could make a whole set of these in which no two look alike. This is definitely a versatile DIY that would look great in a multitude of sizes across your tree or even resting in some garland. These would also make an excellent present for your friends and family and you can proudly say that it is handmade!
Next year I am going to make a whole set of these for my tree, my mom and maybe even my Etsy shop. What do you all think about that? There are so many knot variations that could be applied here for some gorgeous looks.
Tips & Tricks
My snowflake measures 3 inches wide and my wood bead is only 0.5 inch but you could definitely go with a whole slew of sizes or even add multiple beads in a row.
I am using 1mm macrame. I think 1.5mm would work but I do not advise going over 2mm as the knots will get too thick. We want our snowflakes to be dainty.
Same with the wooden beads, If your bead gets too large it can overpower our dainty flake. I would keep it under 0.75 inch all the way down to microscopic beads you might use in jewelry.
Beads are definitely an area you could get really unique with or have the kids jump in and help. Like friendship bracelets but ornaments!
